Dressed in yellow the firefighter stood,
head bowed to whisper
to the child he held so near
dont be afraid for I am here
and safe is what youll stay
so do not fear the flames my dear.
the firefighter started off
through the blazing fires of Hell
holding the child cradled safe
in arms to warm to be steel
he faltered not though blind he was
the smoke and ash were thick
he carried the child to safety,though all around them blazed
untill at last the rain fell soft, and cooling to her skin.
she smiled and cried out... her arms held wide,
to welcome the smileing faces of those she loved
wraped only in a fire shelter, a helmet over her head,
how did you come to be like this?
"The fireman" she said
she pointed a tiny finger in the direction he had flown
but only ash and smoke did rise,the fireman was gone.
